Fraser and Fraser, a leading provider of genealogical and probate research services, is proud to announce that a significant number of its case managers and case assistants have achieved the new status title of CILEX Chartered Paralegal, alongside CILEX Paralegal, after the Privy Council approved the amendments to the CILEX (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) Charter and Bye-Laws. Fraser and Fraser is particularly proud to have a quarter of all CILEX Chartered Paralegals who were enrolled in the pilot, from within its firm, demonstrating an obligation to professional standards within the probate research sector.

In an industry with limited regulation, the “Chartered” title carries substantial credibility within the public, signifying that an individual is a regulated professional held to a stringent set of standards. By having a significant number of CILEX Chartered Paralegals and CILEX Paralegals, and the most accredited staff members in any Probate Research firm in the country, Fraser and Fraser is setting a new standard of excellence and ensuring that its clients receive the highest level of expertise.

CILEX Chartered Paralegals are experienced legal professionals who have demonstrated significant work experience, combining commercial awareness with legal expertise. They are regulated, visible on a public register, and adhere to a strict code of conduct.

In order to become a CILEX Chartered Paralegal, our staff have had to complete a detailed application and thoroughly interviewed with a CILEX assessor demonstrating how they meet the required competences and behaviours, supported by a referee who validates the information provided, including; gaining sufficient practical experience in a legal role, and demonstrating a commitment to professional development and ethical standards.

Fraser and Fraser believes this commitment to professional accreditation not only elevates the firm’s standards but also contributes to raising the bar across the probate research industry.

CILEX recently launched a public register of CILEX Chartered Paralegals and CILEX Paralegals, which allows the public and employers to check the regulated status and qualification credentials of those holding a professional paralegal stats with CILEX. Inclusion on the register is a mandatory requirement for these paralegal membership grades. CILEX Chartered Paralegal is set at the equivalent of Level 5 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework. For those with between two and five years of experience, the CILEX Paralegal status remains available. This is Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 3, equivalent to A-Levels.
